Major Responsibilities:
- To provide visionary leadership and management for a dynamic, innovative, and diverse statewide 4-H Youth Development Education Program and Family Consumer Science Program with incumbent responsibility of State 4-H and FCS Program Leader. To establish relationships with USDA, National 4-H Council, other state 4-H Program Leaders and FCS Leaders, and Extension Program Leaders at NCSU and NC A&T State University.
- To exercise general administrative, personnel, and budgetary responsibility for the Department and its programs subject to the approval of the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Director of the Cooperative Extension Service.
- To facilitate effective program planning, evaluation, impact assessment, and reporting processes which provide innovative youth and family programs that involve clientele, external stakeholders, unit leaders and NC State faculty and staff.
- To actively participate as a member of the NC Cooperative Extension Council, and Administrative Council for the North Carolina Cooperative Extension and as Head of the Department of 4-H Youth Development and Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. To plan, implement, and evaluate progressive interdisciplinary Extension programs that address contemporary issues with members of the faculty, department heads, dean and director.
- To provide leadership for and mentoring of the members of the Department including Faculty, EPA Professionals and Support Staff.
- To provide leadership in developing and maintaining effective teamwork among county and state professionals and volunteers.
- To oversee financial management of departmental programs, including development of budgets, managing expenditures, and ensuring fiduciary responsibility.
- To provide administrative leadership for the Youth Development Leadership specialization and the Family and Consumer Science degree program in direct collaboration with administrators in the Colleges of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Education.
- To serve as an ex-officio, member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina 4-H Development Fund and Family Consumer Science Board, responsible for establishing program priorities and to facilitate external resource development for the 4-H youth development program.
